At Hotel Svava, we strive to be a good environmental choice for our guests and to promote sustainable development in society by continuously improving our environmental efforts. We aim for environmentally sustainable tourism by offering an eco-friendly stay at our hotel.

What you as a guest can do to contribute to a sustainable hotel:

• Turn off lights: Remember to turn off the lights and switch off all electronics when you leave the room.
• Eat sustainably: Make conscious choices! We encourage our guests to choose vegetarian and eco-labeled options. Take only as much food as you can eat.
• Housekeeping: To avoid unnecessary cleaning, indicate with the door hanger when you need/do not need your room cleaned.
• Bed linen & towels: Feel free to use your towels for several days. Hang up the towel if you wish to keep it, and if you want to exchange them, please place them on the floor. Bed linen is changed every fourth day; please inform the reception if you'd like to keep them longer. Together, we can save detergent, water, and energy!
• Waste sorting: Help us facilitate our waste sorting. We want to make it easy for you to sort your waste. If you place packaging, newspapers, batteries, and bottles next to the trash can, we will recycle them for you.

Green Key

As part of our environmental efforts, we have chosen to eco-label our hotel with the global environmental certification Green Key, a collaboration and certification we are very proud of. Green Key is an international eco-label for hospitality and tourism establishments and is present in over 60 countries. The certification is internationally managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education, supported by, among others, UNEP, UNESCO, and WTO. Today, there are over 170 Green Key-certified facilities in Sweden, and all facilities undergo regular audits to ensure compliance with the criteria.

In our environmental policy, we have established environmental goals and an action plan to achieve the objectives included in the certification. We work continuously to minimize our energy and water consumption, reduce the use of chemicals, and only use eco-labeled laundry and cleaning products, as well as sort all waste.

Here are some examples of what is included in a Green Key-certified hotel, and which we naturally fulfill:

• Using 100% renewable electricity, energy-efficient lighting, and having routines for reduced energy consumption.
• Annually measuring the hotel's greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the hotel's climate impact. 
• Initiatives for reducing water consumption and conserving our water resources.
• Sorting and recycling the hotel's and guests' waste.
• Using eco-labeled laundry and cleaning products.
• Offering guests several organic food options for breakfast.
• Working towards reducing food waste.

In addition to this, we take environmental aspects into account in decision-making processes, comply with applicable environmental legislation, document our efforts, and actively work to ensure that we meet the qualified requirements for eco-certification.

The hotel is easy to find whether you arrive by car, bus, or train. You can conveniently park your car in the garage and take the elevator directly up to the lobby. Get to Hotel Svava by public transportation Hotel Svava is located right next to Uppsala Central Station, only 200 meters away, making it very easy to reach us by both train and bus. If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take any bus that stops at Uppsala Central Station.

If you're arriving by plane, you can take the train from Arlanda Airport to Uppsala Central Station or take Flygbuss nr 801 to Uppsala Central.
